2008/09

Welcome, we are looking forward to another busy, productive season for all our skaters, coaches and parents. These pages contain information regarding the programs and general rules. Please read them carefully.

For those of you who are new to the club ~ welcome and good luck.   For those returning, welcome back.  We want everyone to have an enjoyable, positive season!!!!

EXECUTIVE

Our executive meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 in the arena. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.  New ideas and input are always welcomed.

Our regular season begins on Tuesday October 21, 2008

Please check the attached schedule for your child’s skating day and time.

POINTS TO REMEMBER

Ø      All preschool skaters must wear a helmet.

Ø      Power skaters must wear full hockey equipment including a stick.

Ø      Skate guards are to be worn at all times off the ice.  The carpeting is very expensive.

Ø      Make sure your child’s skates fit like their shoe.  If their ankles are bent over when walking in the skates, they will be worse on the ice.  Ankle supports can be purchased at Paul’s Sports.

Ø      Drinks, gum, candy etc are strictly forbidden on the ice. If you have questions regarding the programs, please call Grace McKeen at 905 768 5809 or Kathleen Webb at 905 768 2904

CanSkate Program

The Canskate program is the Skate Canada learn-to-skate program for beginners of all ages.  Technical skills are taught and emphasized through fun activities and continuous movement in small groups.  Skills are assessed weekly and there are many incentives available to reward participation.  Badges are awarded at completion of each level.  Canskate is a feeder program for the Skate Canada Test stream of figure skating and the Competitive programs and also the CanPowerSkate.  This program is excellent training for anyone interested in figure skating, ringette, and hockey

We may make past editions of the newsletter available for download.
